Suicide Prevention: A Public Health Problem- You are the Tool We’ve Been Missing!
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide is the second leading cause of death among 10 to 34-year-olds and the tenth leading cause of death overall in the United States. Those considering death by suicide often communicate their intent before their attempt, but warning signs are often missed by those closest to them. This presentation will empower parents, staff, and students to identify the cues and warning signs of suicide. Attendees will learn how to approach someone with suicidal thoughts and gain information on how to connect them with professional help.
