Supporting Transgender and Gender-Expansive Youth
Transgender youth are a vulnerable population and face unique challenges, largely due to stigma and discrimination. Parents, caregivers, and community members have the power to support trans youth by increasing their resilience, empowering them to embrace and celebrate their authentic selves, and contributing to improved long term outcomes by nurturing their mental health and social supports. This presentation will provide participants with an understanding of common terms, myths, and facts about trans youth, issues unique to trans youth, and steps they can take to support the trans youth in their lives.
